cancelling a sold transaction, because item is damaged by seller

Question

I was packaging up an expensive, very heavy machine, to ship and I dropped it. I am trying to cancel the transaction, and so is the buyer. Ebay tells him he has to wait till shipment date, before he can cancel, and tells me, the seller, that I'm overdue on my shipping date, and I owe over $2000 or my payment info, before they will cancel. Help!!! Ive reached out to agents, and got the ebay phone number, none have been any help. It seems ebay is trying to avoid the cancellation of this sale.

Unless you have the avaliable funds, you'll have to cover the refund until the buyers payment is sent to your checking account.

To cancel the transaction you must provide a payment method for the refund. eBay will then release the original payment to you. No one like it, but that is how the process works. You can add a credit card, and make that your preferred method for paying selling costs, if that helps.
