Canceling an order.
I tried to cancel an order last week. I waited three days for an order from the seller and I ended up getting a message from eBay saying the seller declined the cancellation request. However, three days after that message, the seller messaged me, saying he tried to cancel the order, but eBay wouldn't let him. Is eBay
trying to force this order to happen? I don't understand what is going on. I tried contacting them directly but I don't know their hours. I got to talk to them directly because I can't deal with this AI nonsense. You can't get anywhere with it and I think these businesses will destroy themselves with it if they're going to rely on that instead of actually communicating with the people who use their business.

To answer your question about the cancellation request...
Good news! There is no need to contact eBay about this. A seller has 3 calendar days to cancel or decline the request. If he doesn't, eBay will close the request, which is what happened to you.
If you didn't pay, then the order was canceled automatically. If you paid, the seller needs to fulfill the order. (If he doesn't, then you can open an Item not received case.)
If the seller tried to cancel the order but couldn't, that's because he tried AFTER eBay closed it.

OP8 months agoThe seller said he tried to cancel the order and he couldn't. He hasn't even sent the item. If neither of us could cancel the order, then eBay has to answer for it. It seems the only way I can get my money back is to wait until the estimated delivery date to file a return and say that the item didn't come. I'm going to have to wait a couple of weeks to do this.

-First, Buyers can only "request" a cancellation and the Seller has to do that. If they declined the cancellation as far as I know they can still refund you.
Anyway ... the date you want to keep an eye on is the original estimated delivery date. One day past that is when you can process a claim.
You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the latest estimated delivery date: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
You can file a claim via the item in your Purchase History that you did not receive your item one day past the original estimated delivery date and up to 30 days after that. Follow the steps in the claim and they will lead to an eventual refund.
You can report a Seller here: Report an issue with a seller | eBay
Getting in contact with eBay may or may not yield the results you want and how they communicate can vary ... as you already figured out. Here is what we share with members.
We recently learned that many of the links we post to Request a call back are now simply forwarding members to eBay's Customer Service "How can we help you today?" page (link below). On that page members have to complete numerous choices before being given ways to be in direct contact with eBay. Depending on the subject, representative availability and other factors requesting a call back may or may not be possible. Chat or an email may be provided. If you get a Chat box Type “AGENT in the box. You can also contact eBay through Social Media if you have accounts there.
