Canceled orders with no recourse

We live in Hawaii. Of course there is slightly more shipping charges, than FREE DELIVERY any where on the mainland, which is farther across from shore to shore than the distance from the West Coast to the STATE of HAWAII.
Vendors will cancel our order after accepting it, a week later - and will refund ok - at the time we are expecting delivery.
We would not buy things on ebay if we could get them here on the islands even if more expensive.
My problem is that NO WHERE on their Ad on Ebay, nor anywhere in their shipping policies does it even mention Hawaii or Alaska.
No mention of extra charge (which we expect and is reasonable), no mention of NOT SHIPPING to Hawaii or Alaska.
No mention of any restrictions shipping.
Yet they cancel the order over "problems with shippng address, etc."
This is more than inconvenient. If we did not NEED these items we would not have ordered them.
EBay step up for us here. Make them post or ad in shipping instructions that they will not ship to Hawaii, or there is an extra charge.
This canceling and refunding is a total waste of their, yours and our time and money.

In fact....we have ordered household batteries by large batches of every kind for our Hurricane kits here in Hawaii. They seem to come with no problem at all and get here quickly.

Mentor1 week agoSellers that cancel orders can and will have sanctions taken on their accounts. It may not be instant and you may not see it, but it will eventually catch up with them.
There is no way that eBay can force a seller to ship to you and the fact is, some sellers just don't understand everything about how eBay shipping works and get gob smacked when shipping charges appear that are higher than they expect.
Sellers can block buyers that want items shipped to Hawaii. It is a setting that they can change in their account. Sadly, not all sellers know this ahead of time.
Yes, it is frustrating and I understand that they are wasting your time. eBay can and will do something but probably not soon enough or fast enough for you to notice right away.

But there must be some kind of control Ebay can do about sellers notifying people about their shipping limits - UP FRONT. It is frustrating that the seller will tell you that to go ahead and purchase the product and the sales robot will let you know if it can go to your address. When it is approved and the money taken......why do they have to wait so long to re-neg on the deal - even though they do give a full refund ?
Just tell us there is an extra fee for Hawaii/Alaska/wherever, or that they don't ship there UP FRONT.
Every 3rd thing I try to buy on Ebay, with no shipping restrictions, whether free shipping or a standard charge - gets canceled and refunded. I have to try and buy the same thing 3 or 5 times before someone gives us a deal including shipping costs.
What do we order? A ryobi grass cutter for #30, no battery. Interior trim door for an old cadillac, wheel bearings for a motorcycle, a barometer, you get the idea.
