Cancel refund return
I sold an item to a buyer on Sept 09. Sept 29 they requested a refund for a dumb reason. I refunded the buyer in full & paid for a return shipping label. They had until Oct 24 to ship it back to me. I have not received my item or any info related to returning item. I messaged the buyer about it. They said cancel the order, whatever that means. I tried to contact eBay with no luck. I wasted my time on the help page & talking with the automated service. I reported the problem to eBay, waiting for response. I need to speak with an actual eBay associate which seems to be impossible. Any tips for how to resolve this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That right there is the root cause, as we used to say in the commercial nuclear generation industry. You refunded before you received the item back. Never issue a refund until you have the item back in your hands. There's nothing you can do about it now. Cross that guy off your Christmas list, because you've already given him a gift.

OP10 months agoIf eBay can freeze my account until I provide a refund. Then they can freeze their account until I get my item or money back. If I don't receive either one then I will no longer use eBay. Mercari is better & safer anyways & they have reasonable selling fees unlike eBay. Screw eBay & that punk thief.

OP10 months agoYou were right, I was wrong. I did more research on this issue. eBay will not hold the buyer accountable after refunded their money. This guy got a free phone, nothing expensive, just a Nokia flip phone. He still stole it from me. I can't believe eBay would allow this to happen, it's **bleep**. I shipped 2 items today. I got the payout for one, when I receive the other I'm deleting my payment options & my account. eBay can suck one. Mercari is better anyways. I would text a borderline threatening message but eBay will block it. It wouldn't do any good no way. Lesson learned.

It's a shame for you to give up now, after you've become a more knowledgeable seller. You wouldn't have done that if you had known better, but now you do know better. I have a hunch that you would develop into one of the great sellers, and I'm not just blowing your skirt up. One way to learn is to frequent these boards, especially this one, the Ask a Mentor board. I've never been a seller but I know a lot about it, just from reading the experiences of others. Don't make any impulsive decisions, and don't burn any bridges. Whatever you do, good luck to you.
