Can yuou get two defects on one order?
I thought I posted this question but I didn't see a response and can't find my question so maybe I did it wrong. Here's my question. Can you get a cancelled for being out of stock transaction defect and a late shipping defect on the same order? So I cancelled this order 02-14035-78134 and got a transaction defect for being out of stock but I aslo got a late shipment defect when nothing was ever shipped. I appealed the late shipment defect and was denied but I see this as ebay's policy "The transaction defect rate is the percentage of your total transactions that had any 1 of 2 defects. Note that these defects often measure how satisfied your buyers were with a transaction. We don't count more than 1 defect per transaction." so how is it possible i have two defect for this order?

OP8 months agoyes because we weren't actually out of stock they just couldn't find it so we did print a label because we always print labels and then send to our warehouse to fill

Mentor8 months agoThat likely is what caused the two defects in your seller metrics, but as stated, only one of them should count in your seller rating calculation.

OP8 months agoI am just at a loss here, I have appealed twice and couldn't be any clearer about the fact we never shipped anything and yet here is their response to me about the two defects on the same order.
I am more than happy to review and check options for you.
Deborah, this has been reviewed by eBay with the highest priority. After careful review we can see that the defect is because of cancellation for out-of-stock reasons.
Sellers are expected to complete the sale when a buyer makes a purchase unless the cancellation reason is beyond the seller's control. Since we have been unable to find any evidence of any of these circumstances, we kept the defect in your account.
For future transactions, you can avoid cancellation by keeping your inventory well stocked. Use the restock advice in Seller Hub to ensure that you don’t run out of inventory and if item is damaged or unavailable, end the listing immediately.
And on the late shipment defect, after reviewing our original decision on this case, we’ve decided to deny your appeal. You didn’t provide tracking for the item. We ask all sellers to provide tracking when they ship an item. This allows your buyer to track the shipment on their own, while protecting you from defects, negative feedback, and other buyer queries. If you often receive reports of delayed shipments, you may wish to adjust your handling time or talk to your shipping company. We won’t be reviewing any additional appeals for this case.

Mentor8 months agoYou may be seeing more than one defect, but as I understand it only one should be applied to your seller rating.
@comics-scifi-collectibles Can you comment on this?

Mentor8 months agoThe policy page calculation examples I was going to share are actually for sellers that had cases closed without seller resolution AND cases for out of stock from more than one buyer.
It is confusing.
@se_school_seasonal On your seller dashboard according to what you have said you have one late shipping defect and one defect for out of stock cancelation.
The late shipping defect doesn't hurt your account as much as the out of stock. Copied from the Seller Standards policy page>
Minimum requirements
A high late shipment rate on its own won't cause your account to be evaluated as Below Standard, but a low rate is required for Top Rated status.
The Out Of stock defect is what hurts your account. If you have too many of those then as you know you are downgraded in account standards. You need to have .50 % or less for this metric to remain Top Rated.
I understand that it's frustrating since you canceled the sale and obviously can't ship but as soon as you bought the label the system expected you to ship. The action of buying the label came before the cancelation so they are two separate things according to the eBay programming.
I personally would not worry so much about the late shipment defect as it won't hurt your seller rating unless you have more of them.
