Can you report a seller that refuses to respond to simple requests for more details on their item
So I came across a very new EBay seller that has only been on the platform here since 2022, only has 1 feedback and only a handful of items for sale, 4 items. They recently offered for auction a supposed First Edition/Second printing of To Kill a Mockingbird book with no dust jacket. (First printings of TKOM were in July 1960 with 14 more printings that year). Selling as is with a reserve price but only posted 3 photos none of which showed the entire book but very cropped photos of the inside page and one photo of the top of the book. I placed a minimum bid but then contacted the seller and said I was interested but would like to see more photos of the book so I could get a better idea of what condition the book was in. The auction was up for 6 days and the seller never responded to any of my messages. The auction had no other bids and they relisted it with a new listing and again I placed a bid and asked again for them to please give me more info and please upload a couple more pictures so I could see the entire book. Again has refused the past 5 days to respond until this morning when I sent them info telling them they did not have an actual First edition/Second printing of the book because the page they did show clearly showed the book was assigned an ISBN number which were not placed on books until 1970 and the ISBN numbering system did not get invented until 1967. So when I told the seller they did not actually have a 1960 edition of the book and their listing was misleading they finally responded claiming they sold the book and to stop harassing them. But they were obviously lying because I’m still the highest bidder on the book and the auction doesn’t even end until tomorrow and again I am the only bidder on the book.
either this seller is just naive about what edition of the book they have and is dishonest in that they choose not to correct their list or they don’t care.. I’m obviously not going to try to bid anymore on this sellers stuff because they have been uncooperative In a very simple request in the beginning to share more photos of the book.
When I was selling on EBay I was very upfront with prospective buyers and bent over backwards to quickly respond to messages and requests for any additional photos and information.
I could understand a delayed response if the seller happens to have a huge storefront and lots of items for sale but this new seller literally has 4-5 items up for sale and refused to respond through a 10 day period. The first 6 days of the first auction and then the preceding 4 days of the current auction.
