Can someone identify this vintage ceramic bird?

Question

Hello! I've had this ceramic bird in my kitchen collection for years. I think it's probably 50's or 60's. It's not a pie bird and it's not a string holder (see rubber gasket at neck). Does anyone know what this little bird is?

Thanks for your help

My guess is an egg cup. You can serve a soft-boiled egg in it.
