Can returns be accepted where buyer pays but not the shipping is refunded?
If I accept returns "just because" can I only refund the price paid except the shipping expenses?

If you list an item with returns accepted, you only pay return shipping and have to refund original shipping when the buyer selects not as described as the reason for return.
If they select a buyer remorse reason, like don’t like it, doesn’t fit, etc, then they pay the return shipping and you do not refund the original shipping.

OP9 months agoThank you for confirming this, i am so fed up with ebay not having all their customer service people well trained. I called again to confirm what you just advised and he told me that no, I would still have to refund the whole amount since I would be accepting returns.
Thank you again!

I actually don’t blame them for being confused - it really isn’t spelled out clearly in any of the variety of policies where you might expect to see it. The best I can find in writing is this -
“You'll return the item and the seller will then issue a full refund – depending on their returns policy, this may or may not include the original shipping cost.†This in in the return info for buyers, not for sellers.

The catch of course, is that original shipping is not addressed in the return policy. But when you go to issue the refund on a remorse return, it is the seller’s option to refund the original shipping or not.
The only thing that eBay clearly states is that you cannot deduct the original shipping if you had offered free shipping.

OP9 months agoYou have been so helpful, thank you, like always in my experience is a coin toss. Should I write it explicitly in my listings? Buyer pays return and only sales price will be refunded without the original shipping? I want it to make it clear, of course if the return is just for buyer's remorse or did not fit. what do you think or have you seen it written?
Thank you

I don’t think I would spell it out. I have never seen it described in a listing. I think you would just be inviting more buyers to not be honest and choose not as described. There are already plenty who will find a way to justify their return as being caused by an error on your part 😮
