Can i get compensated for my account showing me the wrong numbers?
Summary: gian-6117 shared their experience of being scammed while selling a laptop on eBay. They were asked by a buyer to provide proof of the laptop's condition through email and later shipped the laptop via UPS, believing the transaction was legitimate. I listed a laptop for sale on eBay for approximately $700. A buyer contacted me through eBay regarding the listing and requested additional proof of the laptop's condition. The buyer asked me to provide a video showing the laptop working because eBay messages did not allow video attachments, so I sent the video through email.
After communicating with the buyer, I received messages regarding shipping the laptop. My eBay account showed activity consistent with a $700 sale, including my selling limit decreasing from $50,000 to approximately $49,300, which made me believe the transaction was legitimate.
I shipped the laptop through UPS to the address provided by the buyer
The laptop was successfully delivered according to UPS tracking.
After shipping the laptop, I received an email claiming to be from eBay stating that the buyer had paid an excessive shipping amount and that I needed to personally refund the buyer $266.31 before eBay would release my payment. The email instructed me to send proof of the refund.
I later determined that this email was fraudulent and was not actually from eBay. I believe I was deceived into shipping my laptop without receiving legitimate payment and that I am the victim of an online fraud scheme.

Sorry that you were the victim of a scam. You may be able to pursue this legally.
Since you are a new seller, this would be a good time to learn about selling on Ebay and how to protect yourself.
