Can ebay contact a seller that is not responding?
Summary: paligirl expressed frustration over a seller's lack of response regarding a transaction where PayPal automatically paid for an item, causing separate shipping costs. Despite repeated attempts to contact the seller, who usually responds quickly, they have heard nothing back and are concerned about the seller's status. eastlaneave advised that eBay is unlikely to reach out to the seller directly and suggested paying the second invoice and filing a claim if the item isn't shipped.
I recently made a large purchase from a seller that I have purchased from (happily) in the past. All of the purchases were auctions and for some reason one of the items, paypal automatically paid (which I did not want nor did I set up that way) as a result that item incurred separate shipping cost - I was waiting for an invoice from the seller so that I only have to pay shipping one time. This seller ships only once a week so there was plenty of time for the seller to read my messages and not send the one item separately (per my message request). I have sent 5 messages to this seller. We have corresponded many times in the past - he is very responsive normally. He has not responded to one request. I am very worried that he is no longer in control/owns this eBay store - though it is represented in his name. Is there any way ebay can reach out to this seller for me? I have not yet paid the remaining invoice - as I had questions that needed answering regarding the auction. Please advise.

It's unlikely that eBay will contact the seller.
I suggest you pay for the 2nd item.
If the seller doesn't ship, you can file an Item Not Received case to get a refund.
