Buying transaction
I purchase an item , It goes through my PayPal. But then PayPal turns around and takes it out of my checking account. ( yes it is linked) .
I called and spoke to representatives at Ebay. Ebay said you need to take it up with PayPal.

I just looking for an answer. .. I have money in my PayPal account and I want my items that I purchase to come out of my PayPal and not turn around and take it out of line checking account.
Both PayPal and eBay point fingers at each other, HELP plz

Mentor2 years agoNot sure about balances in particular, but if the issue is that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is automatically selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

The next time you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet page and given a chance to pick a specific payment method.

Log into your PayPal account and make sure you have your PayPal Balance set as your preferred method. Go to your Wallet page and you will see your linked cards/accounts. There should be a blue border around your preferred method. If your balance is already selected then try choosing a different one and then changing back to your balance.

Mentor2 years agoI didn't think it was possible to select 'PayPal Balance' as our Preferred payment source ... at least, I don't see that as an option when I looked in my PP account. [Maybe that's because I don't have a balance.]
It's been my impression that PayPal pays with our balance automatically ... if we have one ... and then takes the remaining from our Preferred source if our balance doesn't cover the purchase price.

I'm wondering what question you asked PayPal when you talked to them. This does seem to be more of a PayPal issue than eBay.
If you're not buying on eBay ... does PayPal take payment from your Balance without your asking it to?

I think you are correct that if you don't have a balance you will not see the option. I logged into my account and my balance is selected as my Preferred and there is a note that says if I don't have a balance to cover the purchase they will take from my backup account.

So I guess PayPal doesn't take from our balance automatically anymore. I hope I remember that when/if this issue comes up again. I can't keep up with all the changes. LOL

OP2 years agoI always have available balance in my PayPal account to pay for items that I purchased on eBay . But then it turns around and takes it out of my checking, with plenty of money to cover in my PayPal account

2. Question to PayPal was why is the amount I purchase from Ebay. Going to PayPal, but then taking it out of my checking account. Say sad contact Ebay.

OP2 years agoit does show my preferred method of payment has PayPal balance, I’ve done what you suggested and now reset it again as preferred PayPal balance I will see if that works
