Buying on behalf of Employer / Public School / Tax Exempt
We are a public high school in central Michigan and exempt from MI sales tax. A couple years ago I opened an account under my name w/my school email address and was able to make a purchase for one of our programs without paying tax. The vendor did not require a tax exempt cert (so either out of courtesy or because he was from Australia maybe). Now I need to make a purchase for a different program; the vendor asked for our MI Certificate of Sales Tax Exemption (which is a form on behalf of the school organization and signed by our CFO (not me). The vendor then told me I needed to submit this Certificate to eBay so I did; eBay then reviews for 4-5 days and emails me back stating my account profile needs to be corrected to match the Certificate. The directions in the email were great and I was able to navigate to where this change gets made--HOWEVER--it's formatted such that it requires a first and last name. It will not accept/allow me to enter just our organization name. How can I get this resolved. I am not making this purchase on my own behalf and will be using our school's credit card. And this should not be set up under our CFO's name as an individual--the account name really should be our school name.

You'll either need to change your account to a business account (with the school name) or create a new account under the school name.

The account type would be business
Then the business type would be a non-profit or corporation, etc.
