Buying an item that was defective, but not disclosed in the item description.
I bought a pair of pants, with an elastic waistband, the elastic was old and not stretchy. The seller posted a @@no returns acceptedâ€. When I got the pants I fixed the problem and asked the seller for a partial refund… they would not agree with my request, argued and would not accept my request. They did offer me a discount on any thing else I was interested in… which I was not interested in buying anything else.

Rubber-based elastic on older products will degrade over time. Buyers have a basic expectation that a product will be fit for its designated function, unless stated otherwise in the listing. If the listing did not mention a problem with the elastic, you could open a return request for "not as described". The seller would have three business days to provide a return label or offer a partial or full refund (regardless of their stated return policy).
If you are within 30 days of receipt, and thus within your eBay money back guarantee period, you could open the return request. However, if you have already modified the item, you may have voided that option.
