Buying an item from abroad
I wish to buy a second hand book from Australia and have it delivered to my son, who lives there. He will then post it to me. I am based in the Uk. When I try to bid, or purchase the item, Ebay automatically adds £100 for international shipping which is not required, and ridiculously overpriced. How do I get around this problem, please?

Mentor2 years agoYou can add your son's address to your address list and make it Primary here:
https://accountsettings.ebay.com/uas/addresses
Then you should be able to make the purchase, paying domestic shipping for Australia. Double check to be sure the correct address is showing at checkout.
After you complete the sale, change the primary address back to the one you typically use.

Have your son buy it for you in Australia ... here in the US Buyers can purchase as a Guest. This is the US Community not the UK by the way.

Mentor2 years ago@iwil5046 Here is another issue with trying it that way, Sellers lose their protections if they ship to an address other then the one on file at the time of the purchase. So if you try to do it through messaging the Seller may object ...
You can try changing the address on YOUR account to your Son's for the purchase and see if that works. Then change it back after you have purchased.
