Buying a vehicle
I found a vehicle on Facebook marketplace and emailed to look at it and purchase the seller said they only want to sell through eBay for both our safety the seller said eBay has possession of the vehicle and all documentation I said fine I can purchase through eBay but I checked all the listings and cannot find the item for sale on eBay the seller wants my full name and address to give to eBay as thier buyer and to ship the vehicle but as I can’t find a listing for it and don’t want to get scammed I was very Leary of giving them any of my information and wasn’t sure how eBay has possession of the vehicle until it’s sold it sounded like maybe a scam I was wondering if there is a way to check out a seller if you can’t find thier listing for sale

Mentor3 years agoIf this "seller" only wanted to sell this vehicle though eBay for the" safety" of both of you, he would have listed it on eBay instead of Facebook. Instead he is listing stolen photos of a vehicle at an unbelievably low price and spinning a tall tale.
This is a common scam, and you are dealing with a criminal who is trying to steal your money. Don't give him any personal information or communicate further.
eBay has nothing to do with listings on other sites. If the item isn't listed on the eBay website and if you don't purchase it through the eBay listing, the transaction has nothing to do with eBay.

You can report the listing to the site where you found it.

ebay has nothing to do with motor vehicles found on another website. ebay does not have a warehouse, does not ship to you for free to inspect and then ship it back if you don't like it. ebay does not accept ebay gift cards in payment for a motor vehicle.
If you don't find the motor vehicle listed ON ebay, with a 12 digit item number, that you either bid on or use the BUY IT NOW, the transaction is a SCAM. Stop communicating with the scammer. Report that "listing" to the website it is listed on.
