Buyers selecting shipping options thst are not available to sellers
It is frustrating when a buyer selects(is offered) a shipping option then that option is not available to the seller. This happens most with Small items. The buyer might pay 1.43 but the least expensive option for me is 4+ dollars.

You can alleviate your frustration by only listing shipping options that you can print labels for.
If you want to use a non-trackable option offered in the listing form, you'll have to pay for shipping at the post office. However, this is not advisable as you take a hit to your seller metrics if you don't ship with tracking.

OP2 years agoYes, however the buyer was able to select "usps large envelope " which should not be an option for them since the dimensions I entered do not meet the requirements for an envelope..
I can't select that option...because of the demensions...why could they?
So I agree I could probably do more to figure out shipping for each item...and put a flat rate on each item....etc... however I am a casual seller so it is easier to just do the calculated shipping.

You don't need to use a flat rate, just don't offer the Large Envelope option (this is an option YOU selected when you created your listing). You can revise any active listings now to remove this option if you have it on any other items. Just use Ground Advantage instead.

I'll have to pay attention next time I list a small item because I just go with the Default after I enter demensions and weight, if those exceed a shipping option then that option should not be available.

Selecting your carrier and class of service is just as important as entering the weight and package size.
Looking at your listings, you sell many items that are similar to other items in your assortment. You can save a lot of time by using the Sell Similar function rather than starting each listing from scratch...then just change the information that's different. (Even if you have to change almost everything, I find it easier.)
The only two times I created a listing from scratch was for my first item 20 years ago and my first variations listing when variations first came out many years ago. Every other item has been created using Sell Similar. You might want to try it to see if it works for you.
You also might want to use the Advanced listing form (if you're not using it, I think you'll find a link to go to it near the top right corner of the listing page). For me, it's so much easier as everything is on one page without the need to work through multiple pages. One caution though...if you go to it, I don't believe there is a way to go back.
