Buyer's package was stolen
Hello,
This is the first time this has happened to me as a seller. The package shows delivered, but the buyer says that it was stolen. The packages are insured up to the value of the item if no more insurance was purchased, is that right? And if so, what do I tell her and can I help?
Thank you!

Mentor8 months agoOnce tracking shows the package was delivered any insurance on the package is voided. When using the eBay shipping center the package in most cases has up to $100 of insurance already included. For any value above this amount you would have had to purchase additional insurance.
However, in this case there will be no insurance available as the package was marked as delivered.

Unfortunately this is up to the Buyer to report to the police. She can also try to file a claim with her homeowners policy.
Because tracking shows it was delivered, you would not be able to file an insurance claim.

Is the basic insurance (no extra charge) just in case the item arrives damaged or broken? I’ve had that happen several times and I just refunded the money to the buyer, but I didn’t feel like I should have had to (but maybe I do have to).
