Buyers not paying
Is there some known reason why ebay does not make buyers automatically pay for auction wins? It's absolutely absurd. I sold something on the 11th, was supposed to be auto-paid on the 18th, and somehow that didn't happen so it's just unpaid and the buyer has ghosted me.

As a fellow seller I know how frustrating non paying buyers can be.
When a buyer doesn't pay you can cancel the sale after 4 FULL DAYS so on the 5th day cancel as buyer hasn't paid. This gives the non-paying buyer a strike on their account and they also will not be able to leave feedback. Then you relist OR do a second chance offer.
If the buyer receives 2 or more strikes in 12 months then they are blocked from auctions or best offers for one year ( as long as the seller sets this up in account settings) and can only make immediate payment purchases, if they get too many strikes then eBay may remove the buyer from the site.
Do not send an invoice or it starts the clock over again for when you cancel as buyer hasn't paid. eBay sends payment reminders.
Unpaid items:

Add the buyer to your blocked buyer list:

Have you set up your buyer requirements in account settings?
Click this link: https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements Then block buyers with 2 or more unpaid items in 12 months.
Also block buyers in locations you do not ship to.
Then at the bottom of the screen look for buyer Payment Requirements put a check next to both of these:
Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid.
Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.
These settings will cut down on your non paying buyer issues.
If you require payment prior to bidding on an auction AND allow invoice requests then buyers have up to 7 days to keep shopping and combine shipping.
If you do NOT allow invoices then the buyers auto payment will be charged one hour after auction.
Invoice settings are on this page> https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf

Mentor8 months ago@alro_693572 On the shipping preferences page> https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf
If you DO allow invoices and check the payment required box then buyer does still have to provide a payment method prior to bidding but they are allowed to keep bidding for 7 days if they choose to do so. This option does weed out the flaky buyers and encourages your buyers to buy multiple items from you.
I see that you sell sports cards so this would be the best option for you. Otherwise you are charged .30 to .40 cents per transaction in addition to your final value fee which can add up if you offer combined shipping manually.

OP8 months agoInteresting. All my issues have been because I allow invoice requests. I wish you could just allow 24 hours for invoice requests.

Mentor8 months agoAs long as you require payment prior to a buyer placing a bid you will be paid, either one hour or 7 days at the latest. I know that some sellers don't like to allow buyers more time to purchase more items, that is a sellers personal choice of course.
