Buyers choice in shipping
Hi, I've sold an item recently and when I printed the shipping label and took the package to my local post office the postal worker asked me if I was shipping Media, I responded No, and he informed me that the postage was paid for shipping media and not anything else and that the item could be shipped but once it reached the buyer they would probably be required to pay more postage. I do not want to do anything unfairly and get a bad review as Im new and would like for my account to be positive at all times. I went and checked the order and it shows "Buyer Selected" on the shipping choice. I canceled the label and covered it up and was just going to pay the proper postage myself however it was going to cost me $40.65, more than double the amount that was paid to me for shipping. What should I do? Reprint the label that the buyer chose and ship it anyway? Or message the buyer and let them know what happened when i went to ship the item and see what they want to do? I just don't want to delay the shipment and my deadline is today. Please help!

Mentor1 year agoYou cannot send a Barbie doll using media mail. I see that your previous sales of Barbie used Ground Advantage as well as Priority.
I would use Ground Advantage for your most recent purchase. You cannot ask the buyer for more money. Use this as a learning lesson. Learn what items can be sent using media mail, as the USPS can indeed open all packages to confirm that what you are shipping does qualify. Be sure to VOID/CANCEL the media mail label. The USPS will credit your account in 2-3 weeks after they confirmed the label was never used.
