Buyers being able to return items
I have a buyer that bought a Christmas/seasonal item on 12/8/22 and now initiated a return on 1/2/23 stating that it is no longer needed. EBay has put the $280 funds on hold on my account. Do I have any recourse? How can eBay allow this? Even stores don't allow returns on seasonal items. The buyer is supposed to be returning the item so I know I can try to resell it just is harder since Christmas is over. Any suggestions?

Still, buyers are not allowed to 'rent' an item. If the item was sold as used, you might not be able to tell if they used the item, but if there are obvious signs of use, you can report them for returning in a different condition. See the section here on protection for all sellers -

·3 years agoA buyer on eBay has eBay's 30 day from date or receipt to open an item not as described. If buyer opened a Return Request for item not as described or missing parts or defective, you have three business days to issue a prepaid return shipping label. Otherwise, buyer can ask eBay to step in and this will earn you a defect and a forced refund.
eBay rules in favor of the buyer with items not as described. When you receive the item back, you have two days to issue a full refund.
