Buyer wont pickup item from post office
Ok so, here is the summary of events thus far on this latest frustrating sale of mine:
- buyer ordered, submitted payment for, a $3500 item.
- I shipped the item to the buyer using the USPS label generated by Ebay; the address appeared to be a legit business address, and NOT an address for a PO Box or any other kind of post office address.
- On the day that the item was supposed to be delivered to the buyer, the tracking on USPS appears to show that the item ended up at the post office local to the buyer's address, and that the item is there waiting for pickup.
- I attempted to contact the buyer through the ebay messaging platform 3-4 times to provide details of the item status, as I know of them via info on the USPS tracking. The buyer does not respond.
- I attempted to directly call the buyer using the phone number on his profile, and left 2 voicemails on the number. The buyer does not respond.
- I attempted to directly call the buyer using the business phone number for original shipping destination address (business address). I spoke with someone at the business, whereto the item was shipped to per the shipping label generated by ebay. So, evidently this buyer does actually exist. The person I spoke with told me he will transfer me to the buyer's desk phone. Before he did so, I gave this other person at the business all of the info....my name, contact info, reason for my call....and he said he would also email the buyer to notify him of this status. The buyer still does not respond.
Meanwhile, payment for the item is of course held in limbo by ebay until the buer goes to get the item. What exactly am I supposed to do now??

Mentor4 months agoI think you have done everything you are supposed to do. If the buyer never picks up the item, it will be returned to you. If that happens, the buyer will need to repay for shipping if he still wants the item. If not, you can refund item price only.

OP4 months agoHorrible. Really makes me NOT want to use the ebay platform again in the future. Sellers shouldn't be penalized if they go through all of the trouble of packaging and sending an item with the automated ebay shipping label, and the buyer doesnt follow through with simple procedures on their end. Not to mention, the seller having the major inconvenience of taking the item off of the market for a **bleep**ty, dead end transaction.
