Buyer wins dispute, gets $2,350 and gets to keep product?
I had a dispute over an engine I sold to a buyer and he put in a claim that said my description was wrong. He put a claim in with eBay and his financial institution and they sided with him. eBay is trying to take $2350 out of my account to refund the buyer. There has been no notification to me that the product will be returned. Does the buyer get the refund and are they able to keep the product? What can I do to get my engine back or keep the money?

I'm so sorry this happened. If the buyer put in a claim with his financial institution ... which I assume is his credit card company ... then eBay would have dropped out of the process. I don't know of any way to get either your money or the engine unless the buyer is willing to cooperate voluntarily.
It sounds like the buyer may have contacted you first about problems with the engine. THAT is when you had the opportunity to work out a solution. Sellers cannot avoid having to accept returns I'm afraid. It's part of selling online.

OP2 years agoThat’s why I try to be as upfront and open when I sell, I would have worked it out with him if he didn’t want to just return the engine and have me pay for the shipping. I thought It was pretty clearly in my favor that he read the description wrong, and even when he private messaged me a question before buying it, I answered it.
Do I have to dispute the charge when eBay takes the money out of my account and if he does not return the item do I have to resort to legal options?
thanks, for the advice
