Buyer wants to return (my policy no returns) states the item is 2” when I said it was 1.69”. I asked for photo of the item being 2” they refused.
Summary: amawo_4948 sold earrings with a no-return policy, but the buyer requested a return claiming the earrings were larger than described. Despite asking for a photo as proof, the buyer refused. lady_madonna explained that eBay's Money Back Guarantee can override a no-return policy in certain cases, and amawo_4948 eventually issued a refund without receiving the item back, noting problems with package theft at their address. Other participants offered advice, clarifying how eBay's policies can impact return situations.
I listed a pair of earrings without any dimensions listed. Buyer messaged asking for dimensions. I sent dimensions listed on manufacturers website. Buyer purchases item. I do not accept returns stated in listing. Buyer requests return stating earrings measures 2”. I asked buyer for photo of earring measuring 2”. Buyer refuses photo. What do I do?

OP1 week agoI went ahead and refunded them but let them keep the item because I don’t accept returns because I cannot receive packages in my apartments they are stolen everytime because I’m at work when they are delivered. I knew this transaction would be unpleasant from the start. My mistake for giving them the benefit of doubt. Thanks to everyone who read and answered. But I do have questions…. I have no return policy why can eBay override that? A policy is a policy and in my case for a reason. I lose money either way and that’s fine it wasn’t much but if they have you set policies they should help you enforce them not go behind you and bend the rule. How hard is it for the buyer to lie as in this case yet if I had not refunded or accepted return they would have done it anyways? I tried offering her a partial refund but she refused even though I accepted her offer to buy them in the first place. I just finally refunded and blocked her which I should have initially blocked her in the beginning before the sale.

You asked: >>"I have no return policy why can eBay override that?<<"
Ebay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers policy overrides a seller's "No returns" policy in the following situations:
Doesn't match description or photos
Arrived damaged
Missing parts or pieces
Item is defective
Received wrong item
A seller's "no returns" policy is for cases of buyer's remorse such as:
Doesn't fit
Found a better price
Don’t like it
Changed my mind
Ordered by mistake
Since Ebay cannot physically examine items, they will side with the buyer and allow buyers to file a return request if they state a valid reason per the MBG.

Mentor1 week agoIf they open an INAD case then your no return policy means nothing.

Mentor1 week agoAh, yes. But the OP still should tell the buyer to return it for a refund.

Mentor1 week agoebay's Money Back Guarantee expires 30 days after receipt of the item.
Go to My ebay > Purchase History
Locate the item. Click on RETURN THIS ITEM because it is Not as Described. You will need to click on More to see that option. The seller will need to provide a prepaid shipping label for its return. ebay sends you a link to print out the label. Print out the label, affix it to the box, and have the counter clerk scan the label. When tracking shows DELIVERED back to the seller, the seller needs to refund you within 2 days. If no refund, go back to the case and click on Ask ebay to step in, to force the refund.

Mentor1 week agoIf the buyer filed an Ebay Return Request with a valid reason per the Ebay Money Back Guarantee, you are required to approve the return request. They do not have to provide proof to the seller.
