Buyer wants to return an item after 90 days
Summary: redeemedcollectives is dealing with a buyer who wants to return an item purchased in April due to a misdescription, despite initially providing positive feedback. The issue is complicated by the fact that it's past the 90-day return window and the buyer is currently abroad. redeemedcollectives acknowledges that the item might be a generic version and is open to accepting a return but is unsure how to proceed past the return window. The buyer suggested selling the item back, but redeemedcollectives is hesitant about this solution and seeks advice on how to handle the situation.
A buyer purchased an item back in April. They gave positive feedback and said that the item was working fine. However, they said that they just recently noticed that the item was not as described and want to return the item. They are outside of the country and it's past the 90 days since the purchase. However, as I've been messaging with them it's looking like they are correct and the item is possibly a generic version of what we thought it was. So, we're fine with having them return it, but can't find a way to get this process started since it's beyond the 90 day window. The buyer says they could sell it back to us, but we don't think that's going to be a wise way to handle this. What advice can you give us?

Mentor2 weeks agoebay's Money Back Guarantee expires 30 days after receipt of the item.
You are under no obligation to help the buyer. If you want to accept the return, you will have to do it outside of ebay. If this was within 30 days of receipt, on ebay, you would send the buyer enough money to cover return shipping, using Paypal after getting their Paypal email address. Then once the item is returned, you could refund, using Paypal.
