Buyer wants delayed shipping. Will this affect my ebay seller rating if I ship a week late.

The buyer purchased a typewriter from me. He has paid for it but will not be home next week when it would arrive if I shipped it in [my normal shipping time. Will this affect my seller rating?

I have already done the good customer service thing . He paid in full and will not be home when it would have arrived. I am shipping almost a full week late. It is hard to believe but I except the answer that by doing the right thing will be dinged. Thanks for the reply.

If you do not ship within your handling time you will get dinged for a late shipment. Depending on your sales volume one late shipment might not be an issue, however if you do not sell much it could bring your late shipment percentage to below standard. What you can do is message the buyer and let them know eBay requires you to ship within your handling time and you are unable to delay shipping. Ask if they want you to cancel the sale.

You can cancel the sale as buyer requested. If you want to hold the item for them and list it again, when they can have it shipped, so they can repurchase you can offer to do that. If you do not want to hold it and want to list right away that is your choice.
