Buyer threatened me with a negative review after canceling order
I recently had to cancel an order because my son accidentally damaged the item during the packing process. I notified the buyer, kaiserwill54, and issued a cancellation. However, the buyer messaged me asking, 'Why shouldn’t I give you a very negative review?' verbatim. Does this message constitute 'Feedback Extortion' or a violation of eBay’s communication policies, and how should I best handle this to protect my account?

The Buyer's message does not violate any eBay Policies. Did you tell them your son damaged the item during the packaging process? If so then they may think that was a made up story.
What reason did you use when you cancelled? Out of stock? Problem with Buyer's address?
Did you check the Buyer's Feedback history and see if they leave bad Feedback for other Sellers?
Did you notify the Buyer before or after you cancelled that you would be cancelling?
You can message them and simply let them know you are at their mercy with regards to whatever Feedback they decide to leave or not leave for you but would appreciate some understanding.

OP9 months agoYes, all of these things were performed. So you’re stating that is OK for someone to tell me that they’re going to give me a negative review and ask me why they shouldn’t, simply because I had to cancel their order?
