Buyer sending return address and not prepaid shipping label as required
I recently purchased a fairly expensive item ($500 value)from an ebay seller and instead the seller sent me a pack of protective face shields( $10 value)(scam alert). The sellers ebay page said "Seller does not accept returns" I filed a "Wrong item sent" Which waives the sellers return policy and took pics of item received w/shipping label and tracking number visible and sent them to seller. I received a reply from Ebay stating seller will accept my return of the item I received. My questions are- Isnt the seller supposed to send me a prepaid shipping label when wrong item is sent? He only sent me his return address through the Ebay return page. Why the heck would he/she want the package of face protectors back anyway? I emailed the seller and asked for a prepaid shipping label and have not heard back yet. Does Ebay know that the seller only sent me his /her address and not a prepaid shipping label? How will Ebay intervine if they dont know that only a address was sent and not a prepaided label? What are my options?FYI- All communications and pics were sent through Ebay communications.

eBay will NOT know what you and the seller are communicating until you tell them. You have to wait 3 business days for the seller to send you the prepaid shipping label ... OR the money to pay the return shipping if the seller lives outside the US.
On the 4th business day ... you need to go back to your open request and ask eBay to step in. eBay will be able to see the messages you and seller exchanged and will handle the rest of the return request.

I appreciate it. just to clarify, I received two emails from eBay the first one was that the seller excepted my return request and if I didn't get a response from him by the 14th eBay would step in. The second email from eBay minutes later was that the seller had sent a shipping label. But it was not a shipping label that the seller sent it was just his address. So eBay thinks that he sent an actual shipping label. So when July 14 rolls around will I still be able to have a eBay step in. Or do they think I've already got the shipping label and I can't do anything about it. Also, why in the heck does a seller want his face protection mask back anyway?

I wasn't aware until very recently that eBay would step in without a buyer requesting it ... but apparently they do. I also wasn't aware that a seller was able to provide just an address and have it said to be a shipping label. [Things seem to change without notice ... so I'm learning along with you about this.]
I don't have access to the listing ... so don't know the seller's 'return policy' ... but eBay usually will simply refund the buyer in full (as they step in) when the seller has a No return policy.
I'm pretty sure the seller wouldn't pay voluntarily to have the masks returned to them ... except if they're trying to hide the fact that they had shipped something other than the item you purchased.

Return to the case and see if the option to ask Ebay to step in is there, it usually shows up on day 4.

OP3 years agoSeller in USA-doesn't the seller have three business days to provide a prepaid shipping label? If he or she does not,does eBay force a refund?
