Buyer Scamming me???
A buyer claims to have recently purchased a listing from 2021. This item is NOT available. It no longer exists and therefore cannot ship. The buyer is claiming that I must send a refund. I did not receive any money because ebay has the buyer's money on hold until the item ships. I have nothing to ship. This item was sold years ago. I think this is a scam. How do I resolve this and stop receiving messages asking for money that I do NOT have and did NOT receive.

Mentor2 years ago@Anonymous Unfortunately it does show it was sold. We can only see public information so no clue how it was relisted but I can tell you what you need to do.
You need to cancel the sale as out of stock/ damaged from the drop down menu next to the sold item. This starts the refund process.
Refunds are "floated" through the managed payment system. This means that YOU will have to refund the buyer then wait for the buyers funds to clear after the refund is completed.
I recommend using a credit card for this.
Refunds, even for order cancellations, come out of your available funds not pending or held. If you do not have available funds then eBay charges your back up payment method for selling costs.
Have you entered your backup payment method for selling costs here: https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list Select Manage under the method you want to use then select Preferred for selling costs. I use a credit card.
Once you issue the refund and the buyers funds are released from being held or finish processing then the buyers payment is released to you.
You will need to contact eBay customer service for assistance if you have any problems with the refund process. NOTE that if eBay steps in they will force the refund from YOUR back up payment method, if you don't have one it comes from your checking account.
eBay agents are working from home so you have to request a call back or live chat.
