Buyer says that winning bid was lower than what it sold for
Buyer says that the winning bid was lower than what it sold for, saying that he bid an amount with a cap of the higher amount to be increased in response to other bids. Is this correct?

Mentor2 years agotHi @thomasmom37
I cannot understand your question as asked. Sorry.
If the auction has ended … whatever amount is shown as the Winning Bid IS the winning bid.
If that doesn’t answer your question … please offer more details.

OP2 years agoI'm sorry - this is only the second item I've sold on Ebay. My item sold for $1,020. The buyer messaged me and said that the 'winning bid was $871.'
He said 'I bid $871 with a cap of $1,020 I be increased I respond to other bids."[his typos, not mine]

According to the bid history there was another bidder - (738) feedbacks- that bid $1,007 after the winning bidder bid, pushing up the winning buyer's maximum proxy to $1,020.

OP2 years agoThank you!
So, he's bought it then, correct? He just wrote and said that "I saw the screen at 10:19 and it showed winning bid at $871." He apparently didn't see the other bid of $1,007.

Tell the buyer to look at the Bid History … by clicking on the number of bids (in parentheses).
Tell them there WAS another bid right before the auction ended, which is what raised their max bid.

What is the Item Number of the auction? I’m on an iPhone … so can’t access ‘Sold’ items without the number.
