Buyer return, scam?
I sold a pair of 14k gold earrings. I should pictures of me testing on my gold tester and acid test. He claims it not 14k and wants a refund. He shows a picture of his acid test and when I enlarge the photo, I can see gold underneath. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks for any advice you have.

If you mean experience with Buyers not being honest about and item to force a pre-paid return that is funded out a Seller's pocket and the refund is required upon receipt of the returned item? The answer would be yes. I suspect many Sellers have experienced this because eBay has a number of return reasons that would bypass your No returns accepted return policy. If you fight the return eBay can be asked to step in and rule in the Buyer's favor, eBay will let the Buyer keep the item and refund them from your account.

OP1 year agoThank you. Im still trying to understand ebay and selling. I didn't explain myself very well. I just don't understand how my gold tester and acid test failed and his supposed test was different. It just made me question his claim. I was looking for other sellers experience like this and how they handled it. Thank you!

In your Title here if you would have included Jewelry or Gold Earrings some Mentors with Jewelry experience may have replied. Don't be afraid to share details here. But at the end of the day, the item does not matter as much as the situation ... new Seller selling something of value. The more we know the better advice we can give. eBay is a great place to sell but sadly for new Sellers learning the ropes can be a challenge and the saddest part is internet criminals that prey on new Sellers.
One thing that can diffuse some scammers is offering Free 30 day returns and if they do something like that Buyer did just advise them you offer 30 day free returns no questions asked and that they should return the items.
You can also use the Report Buyer link on that transaction, they made a false claim based on your own testing.

If the buyer filed a Return Request with a valid reason per the Ebay Money Back Guarantee, you will be obligated to approve the request.
