Buyer Requesting “Postage Due†refund
Need some constructive opinions and advice here, please no disparity remarks. I sold an item and accepted offer + $5/postage. . Mailed from eBay label and took to post office and they said everything was fine. When the buyers post office tries to deliver, she refused delivery and returned without any notification to me. Wanted to ensure it was delivered so I checked tracking and that’s how I found out. Contacted her to find out why she refused delivery. Claim was $22 postage due. Seemed odd. Received package back and went to my Post Office, they said all was fine with my mailing and contrary to what receivers post office said, no postage was due.
Being nice, as my reviews will show, I elected to resend at my expense. This time I went with my Postal App for Priority Mail. Used priority mail mailer and sent again. Again, buyer claiming her “husband†paid $19.80 in postage due. Now I don’t know about anyone else who used the Post Office app, but if there is postage due, they, the Post Office, will notify you that you need to go to the app and pay the additional postage. I verified again with the app and called my local post office as well using the tracking number and even the Post Office this morning reinforced that no postage was due on first or second mailing. I requested pictures and receipts. Buyer kept asking for my personal information, email and phone, which i refused to give and reminded them, pictures could be uploaded to eBay. Within seconds I got a picture of a torn postage due label barely on the package and no receipt of payment that was supposedly made. I had already started dialogue with eBay to document and was just collecting as much info as I could. I finally told the buyer she needs to go through eBay. Has anyone else had this kind of issue. Twice my Post Office said package and postage on, twice buyer made claims postage due and UPSP app also supports no postage was due. If i refunded claims that postage “due†and “paid†item would be free for her and me in the big red. Seems to me like buyer was trying to bypass eBay and get me to pay by asking for my personal information and especially when she was
going to “wait†to post after she was laid, that’s why I reported toeBay after the first claim of postage due.

Mentor3 years agoWhen postage is underpaid by anyone using an online program to print postage, the charge goes back to the shipper, so USPS would charge ebay, and ebay will then charge the seller.
I would not have reshipped after the first refusal. It sounds like the buyer just doesn't want the item, or as you suspect, is hoping you would just pay the postage due to her, and get the item at a discounted price.
When a buyer refuses receipt of an item, s/he loses the MPG, so you can just refund her the item price.
