Buyer Provided Wrong Address
I shipped to the address that the buyer provided, turns out it was the wrong address. USPS is shipping the package back to me, in the meantime the buyer petitioned eBay for a refund, and eBay has put a hold on my account without hearing my side of the story.
So now it looks like the options are refund (and the amount would put me out of pocket by about $70), or ship it to him again and likely be out of pocket for that shipping money. eBay only gives the options to refund, reship, or contact buyer. No option for me to prove my side of the story, hold put on my account without hearing both sides of the story.
I shouldn’t be responsible for any out of pocket costs, I shipped to the address provided and he acknowledged that was the wrong address. Is there anyway to protest this??

The buyer should NOT have been allowed to file the refund request since you shipped to the address they provided at checkout.
This is return abuse. Use this form to report the buyer>
https://spd.ebay.com/RBASellerHub Buyer made a false claim> Claimed an item was not received when tracking shows it was delivered Then add the additional comments in the box that you shipped to the address the buyer provided at checkout.
After you report the buyer I recommend you contact eBay for Business on FB.
https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness Leave a PRIVATE message and they will get back to you.
Normally in these types of situations the item is returned to the seller as return to sender by the post office. The seller then has the choice of refunding the item price ONLY minus shipping OR the buyer sends payment to ship the item again using an electronic payment method such as Venmo. It's not considered an offsite sale since the sale already took place.

OP2 years agoIn this case, the item was not delivered because the address the buyer provided did not exist. USPS just turned it around and shipped it back (still has not arrived back to me). In theory this should be the same deal, since the buyer provided the wrong address … but do you think eBay will see it differently because technically the package was not “delivered

OP2 years agoPS - the eBayForBusiness chat worked wonders. They closed the case in my favor.

Mentor2 years ago@gallag4 I am glad that they took care of you! If / when the item makes it back to you then you can advise the buyer if they want it shipped to another address they can send the money via an electronic method such Venmo. This is not an offsite sale since the sale already took place.
