[Buyer POV] I purchased a card which has 2 variants, I received wrong variant and lost the refund
Summary: purplepulsar purchased a Rayquaza 177A card expecting the standard version but received the jumbo version, leading to a dispute over a $200 payment for a $30 item. Despite providing proof of the mix-up and seeking a refund from the seller, purplepulsar lost the appeal and is struggling with the automated refund process. disneyshopper advises filing a return request under 'Item Not as Described,' which would obligate the seller to accept the return and issue a refund once the item is returned.
Hello! Recently I purchased a Rayquaza 177A card which has a regular card, and a jumbo card - both listed identically.

The listing said 'standard' card size and I paid the price for the standard version which is around $200. The jumbo is around $30.
In the mail I received the Jumbo version, and asked the seller that for a refund, giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was a mixup and they didn't know.
I asked for a refund, providing proof that it was a jumbo card, and it seems like I've lost the appeal for the refund - even though the card was listed incorrectly.
I'm now unable to appeal the refund, or get in contact with a human through the AI chat and I'm now stuck here not sure what to do and sad that I don't have a card to fit in my binder collection.
What can I do about this? I want to return the card and also get my money back so both sides are back where they were before the transaction/mixup.

Mentor1 month agoYou should have filed a returns request for Item Not as Described. For that reason, the seller has to accept the return and pay for return shipping. Once tracking shows Delivered back tothe seller, the seller has 2 days to refund you. If no refund, you go back to the case and click Ask ebay to step in, to force the refund.

OP1 month agoI appreciate the reply. This is useful to know if I get into this situation again.
What options do I currently have at this stage? The seller never initially agreed to the refund, and I was waiting for any progress. 2 days ago it showed up as case closed. I would much rather just resolve this by shipping the jumbo card back to the seller but ebay isn't making this very friendly to dispute, and it seems like I'll have to talk with my merchant
