Buyer pays return shipping.
I checked the box that says buyer pays return shipping. Buyer received an item and said it was cracked in 4 places. The metal board I sold couldn't be "cracked", I suspected he didn't read the description about the boards. Told buyer to either claim damage with Postal Service or return the board for refund. He said it would be too expensive to ship it back ($6.00) and proceeded to ding my perfect 100% feedback down to 96%. I appealed to eBay because I plainly had 'Buyer pays return shipping' in the listing and the buyer even said they didn't want to pay return shipping in their negative feedback. Turns out, eBay has a fine print policy that says unless the buyer bought the wrong item or just doesn't want it, the seller has to pay return shipping. **bleep**? Why even give us the option for buyer pays return shipping if it doesn't mean anything? eBay likes to make a point of reminding buyers that when they click buy, they have legally entered into a contract to purchase the item. How is there a contract for purchase but the other parts of the contract, like shipping terms, aren't worth anything? F eBay, this is complete **bleep** for somebody who's had a 100% feedback for 11 YEARS.

Mentor2 years agoIt is up to you to claim any damage with the carrier, since you are are shipper of record.
Anything that is damaged or not as described, always overrides no-returns. Your only option would be to refund without a return required, if you did not want to pay return shipping. Ebay has always worked this way.
If you get it back and it is not damaged as claimed, you can report the buyer.

OP2 years agoHow would I know it was damaged when the buyer got it? He said it was cracked but provided no pictures. When he reported me to eBay, he included pictures of the board bent into a semi-circle with diodes that were smashed. Not what he described at all. Several people bought these boards, not realizing that you would need a separate power supply to operate them, even though it was plainly stated in the description. They paid return shipping and I refunded all of them. This buyer got mad because he didn't read the description and he was too cheap to ship it back. He bent the board and smashed it against a table or something, then took the pictures to report the image to eBay. I packaged these boards in TWO padded envelopes, there wasn't any damage to the other 25 boards I sent out this way. This is a $20 item, by the time I paid return shipping, the cost of the original shipping, packaging, eBay fee and postage, I would lose money. There should be a way to remove undeserved bad feedback, I will never list on eBay again. Facebook Marketplace has no fees and none of this bull $**T.

OP2 years agoHere is a photo of the Postal Service damage parcel policy. The addressee can absolutely file for damages with the Post Office. What are you even talking about? It is not up to the shipper to determine if there is damage when the package is delivered. Did you graduate from Cracker Jack University? I can tell because you can even be bothered to proofread your replies...SMH

Mentor2 years agoYes, are far a USPS is concerned you or the buyer can file for damage, however ebay puts that burden on you if buyer claims the item was damaged and requires you to either refund or pay for the return shipping, if you want item back, regardless of your "buyer pays for returns" you put on the listing.
