Buyer paid for the item after I canceled the order due to nonpayment
Ok, so the auction ended 5/22 and the buyer asked if I could wait until June 1st for payment. I looked at their feedback and saw nothing but review after review of sellers lamenting how this person would ask for more time to pay and then would never pay. After that I decided to report them to eBay for asking for the extension just to try to shed light on their behavior.
So fast forward to today, I am finally able to close the order due to nonpayment and I do so.
So why am I now getting a notification from eBay that the auction has been paid for?
When I look at the page to print the shipping label I get the notification at the top that the order hasn't been paid for yet. But it is showing up in my "awaiting shipment" tab. I also peeked at my "all tranactions" page and don't see any payment there, only the returned fees from the order that was canceled.
I'm worried this is this some kind of loophole to get me to mail it then never get paid? Idk, honestly never experienced this before.

OP3 years agoYa know, now that I'm looking at the financial page, those .30 and 4.11 aren't fee refunds, they are just fees?
Also, I went to the original auction page and it said that I had marked it as "payment received". So I just unmarked it and now it's no longer in my "awaiting shipment" tab.
Ugh, so was all this because I accidently marked it as payment received when I was trying to cancel it? It seems unlikely because I canceled it way earlier today and was not even on my computer/phone when I got the paid notification but who knows how delayed those things could be. 😓

Mentor3 years agoHi @batwingedgirl
Look on your Financial summary to see if the transaction is shown there, if you were paid then it will be there, if you have not been paid it won't be there. Seller Hub | Your financial summary | eBay (look in the Recent activity list on the right)
next, if you use the Cancel function does it let you get to the page where you select the reason for cancellation (Buyer hasn't paid) ... same as above, if it is there you can cancel.
Was the message from eBay about the item being paid for? Some Buyer spam the system trying to make Sellers think they sold something when they didn't ...

OP3 years agoIt's not showing up in my financial summary, I was hoping if I gave it time it might show up but it's usually pretty punctual, right?
The weird thing is that it is eBay giving me the notifications about it being paid for. The app gave me a push notification and it says the same thing in my notification drop down. The order is also appearing in my ready to ship tab.

(Buncha screenshots incoming! Thanks for your help btw! 😊)

Mentor3 years ago@batwingedgirl Years ago when we used PayPal, Buyers would pay with an e-check which took 3-5 days to clear the bank /PayPal but sometimes it "looked" like an item sold and inexperienced Sellers would ship and the e-check would fail and the Buyer would get the item for free.
I would NOT ship if it is not in your financial summary as a confirmed sold item and eBay has the money. eBay does NOT always work right, that much I can tell you. Strange glitches happen on a regular basis ...
