Buyer paid but the item is not available for shipping
Hello, I'm confused how this all works. I had something up for sale and totally forgot about it because I've been busy with work and the pandemic in general. Someone had ordered something from me, but I had already sold the item elsewhere.
However, because the person paid for the full amount.. and I obviously couldn't send the package because I had sold it. The transaction never took place unless I sent the item, correct? The payout is already credited to my bank account but ebay never asked me if I accept the offer from the buyer or not . Also there is no communication at all regarding this purchase.
I could not find the item in the active listings any more . I panicked because I didn't want someone to think I was trying to scam them! I'm more than happy to return the money that was owed....but I am not sure how and I am not able to do anything with this transaction, I am not able to cancel it either .. am I missing something? Please help!

Mentor2 years agoIt is not in your active items because it sold. You didn’t have to accept anything because you listed it with a fixed price.
If the buyer has opened a case for not receiving the item, go to the case and refund the buyer.
If he hasn’t opened a case, you need to cancel the sale as out of stock and refund the buyer from the cancellation. Go to your sold items and select cancel from the pull down menu, then select I am out of stock and send the refund.
eBay will take the money back from you and refund the fees so it will cost you at most $.30.
