Buyer made offer and I accepted then he accused me of charging his card???
Summary: chadb53185 shared an experience about a problematic transaction on eBay, where a buyer made an offer on a knife, which was accepted, leading to confusion over automatic payment processing by eBay. Despite canceling the transaction and providing proof to the buyer, the buyer left negative feedback, which eBay refused to remove. chadb53185 expressed frustration over eBay's lack of support for sellers. disneyshopper inquired about the resolution process for a previous issue with lost shipping fees, and monroe67 offered reassurance, highlighting that one negative feedback is not detrimental to an overall positive seller rating.
I have roughly 125 collectible folding knives listed on eBay. All are listed as buy it now with option to make an offer. I had a buyer make an offer and I accepted it. Ten minutes later he asked me a question about the knife in question and I said I wasn’t near it but I would answer when I package it up for shipping. He immediately went crazy saying I charged his card and how dare I do so without answering his question! I responded saying I did not charge his card - eBay automatically does when his offer was accepted. He continued his rant so I told him I would cancel the transaction which I did immediately and sent him a screenshot to prove it. The guy then proceeded to leave me negative feedback saying “lack of communication”. I did nothing but accept the guys offer and now my perfect feedback is blemished and eBay will do nothing. I have tried calling, tried reporting, sent emails, and all I get is a response saying there is no policy violation. eBay is wrong, there was a policy violation. The buyer made an offer that he had no intention of fulfilling. Again, I immediately cancelled the transaction even though I didn’t have to.
I’m starting to see that eBay has no problem collecting thousands of dollars of fees from me but if something goes wrong they do NOTHING to protect the seller. I had a package go missing in shipping and I absorbed the $500 loss and eBay didn’t even waive their fee. How can I get eBay to look at this case and make the reasonable decision to remove this guys feedback?

The first negative, even the first neutral, stings and hurts for a long time.
This may not help you right now, but the world is not coming to an end.
Your other feedback is absolutely glowing. Lots of exclamation points and A+++'s".
Your response to that one negative is a little bit defensive, but understandable.
If I were interested in buying a knife, I would not hesitate to buy from you.
There's a often-repeated phrase here in these forums that, as long as a seller's positive feedback score is over body temperature -- 98.6% -- that seller is probably safe to buy from. You're currently over 98.6%.
That negative will continue to be visible for one year. After that time, it will drop off and will no longer be included in the calculation of your positive feedback score.
Just keep doing what you've been doing.

If you refunded the buyer in full, selecting to Cancel Order, ebay should have refunded the FVF. Did you file an insurance claim with the carrier?

OP3 weeks agoI eventually got this taken care of. I was just shocked at how many times I had to try to contact eBay to get reimbursed for their fee.
My major issue is the buyer leaving me negative feedback for accepting his offer and his card automatically being charged by eBay. The fact that eBay won’t remove that feedback is completely befuddling to me. I didn’t charge his card, eBay obviously does this. The fact that the buyer does not understand that he’s making a commitment to purchase at his offer price should not reflect negatively on me.
