Buyer is threatening to refuse my package (HELP)
Hello,
I am a relatively new seller to the platform and have made a sale for a macbook pro.
I had the item fully packed, and was ready to ship the next day. That same day, the buyer requested a cancellation because they had found a better price. As the seller, I refused this cancellation because I want to make my sale and get it out the way.
Then the buyer messages me that they will refuse my package and have it sent back to me, as they will leave it unopened. They supposedly called eBay support trying to overide my cancellation request and sent me a mesage saying "I contaced eBay support, they said they have the power to retract the package and it is my right to refuse because the tracking number was not given on the same day of cancellation".
I politely responded that I have never heard of this term before, and after calling eBay support myself and checking their policies, no where does it say that this is a rule. eBay had advised my to just go ahead and send my package as scheduled, as I am under seller protection as long as I hold my end of the bargain. I am worried that if they refuse package, I would have to issue a refund and my package would be lost. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Mentor8 months ago@danielyaebin While you can refuse to cancel it is NOT a good idea as a seller or you end up in situations like this OR the buyer files a not as described return request and then you have to pay return shipping AND refund.
Since the buyer is going to refuse the package you are not required by eBay to issue a refund. However most sellers do issue a refund of the item price only. If you don't at least issue the refund of the item price then the buyer will just go to their funding source and do a charge back.
If the buyer files a charge back then you have to refund everything AND get a $20 dispute fee.
Refused package is NOT covered by the eBay MBG.
The buyer refused delivery of the item
Covered:
Not covered:
If a package arrives empty or was damaged in transit, the buyer should accept the delivery and report that the item doesn't match the listing.
EDIT TO ADD: No returns does NOT mean NO refunds under the eBay MBG. Your return policy is only for return request cases where the buyer says the item doesn't fit, changed mind, found better price ( which would have applied for this sale IF the buyer had filed a return request case)

OP8 months agoThank you for the response!
I took multiple screenshots of the buyer messaging me that they will simply refuse cancelation and did not want the item anymore. If they were to send a INAD case or chargeback claim to their CC company, wouldn't that be in my favor? Reading forums and threads online, it says in those situations eBay would side with the seller and settle the disputes themselves. The buyer is demonstrating buyers remorse, I have evidence, and I was just upholding my responsibilities as a seller.

Mentor8 months agoThere is a slim chance the eBay will offer seller protection with the card company chargeback. I personally would not count on it. You won't be out any $ and can sell the computer again if you follow my advice.
If you decide to not refund the buyer the ITEM PRICE then you have the computer AND the buyers full payment which to me, while frustrating, just doesn't seem right.

OP8 months agoAdditional information: I have my return policy as "No returns accepted" and have given/updated the tracking number as soon as I had dropped it off at the post office.
