Buyer is requesting a full refund
Buyer is asking for a full refund claiming that the item received was damaged in transit. If i issue a refund what happens? I pay money for the return shipping label out of pocket, and stuck with a damaged item? Double whammy?

Mentor8 months agoIt doesn't matter if you 'think' the buyer is lying or if it is the truth. Buyers have the eBay 30 day money back guarantee as protection. All sellers have to abide by that rule.

Ask the buyer for photos of the item and package, then ask him to hold both for possible inspection at his PO. File a claim for the damage at https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm
If you do not want the item returned, go to the return and use the 'refund buyer now' option. Then you don't pay the return shipping.
If shipped ups or fedex, reply back and we'll give you the link for filing claims with them.

OP8 months agoI really think this person is trying to scam me. He messaged me before i shipped the package and he stated that the previous 3 he has purchased arrived broken, please wrap it up good. I said no problem. Also by looking at the pictures where he focuses on the damage you cant see the rest of the item to be able to tell if its the one i sent him. The pictures that match the details to the one i sent dont show the damage. Really think hes trying to pull a fast one. Whats the best way to handle this. Thank you! Appreciate your time.

You have 2 choices - pay for the return, or refund without return. If you pay for the return and the item is not damaged, you can report the buyer for abusing the money back guarantee, but that is it.
If you ask eBay to step in, they will probably refund with your funds and not credit you the fees. Plus you’ll get a defect in your account for an unresolved case.

If a return request is open, you have to issue the refund through the return. Go to the return - you should see 2 options - refund buyer now, and accept return.

If you have sent him an offer for a partial refund, make sure you do it through the return.
If he declines your partial refund offer, you will have to pay for a return label - I don’t think you can refund in full after offering a partial refund.

If you have sent a partial refund offer through the return, there is no clock to eat up since you have responded - it is now up to him to accept or decline.
