Buyer is having credit card company cancel payment for an item.
Received this message from a buyer, "Hi, my T-shirt arrived on time, but a small problem with it. Its fake. This is not a genuine authentic Life is Good item, but a counterfeit imported from Guatemala low grade apparel. Your ad on ebay was deceptive and misleading. This product should never been allowed though US Custom being both a copy and sham. I will be calling my credit card company to cancel payment and will be waiting for a response both by ebay and yourself. Thank you"
My item description & item specifics both stated that this item was made in Guatamala. If they knew this, why did they make me an offer that I accepted? They have not requested a return or refund. They are going to cancel payment and waiting to hear from me and eBay. How should I handled this? I can't find any way to get a hold of a living being at eBay via email or phone. Anyone have a phone number or suggestions? Thanks!

Mentor2 years agoThere is nothing to stop a buyer from filing a dispute with their card issuer. Once they do, they can not open a return on eBay.
You can review the message with customer service, but I suspect they will say wait and see what happens. They will also tell you that it is a violation to sell knock offs.
To speak to customer service, use the link on the left side of this page “have us call you†- https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4002&st=10
If you don't see 'have us call you' right under the chat link, click chat. Then at the bottom of the chat topics, click more, then click contact an agent.

Your first point is good to know! This is basically what I told the buyer. He just messaged me directly without opening a return request. I also kindly asked for proof that the item was fake as there are many other listings on eBay currently with the same info. (It's not a luxury brand. It's a "Life is Good" tee.) They did not provide any. I'm having them return the item and I'm refunding the return postage as he'll recoup the total cost of the purchase by stopping payment with their credit card company. So, they have agreed and have not posted negative feedback...yet. We'll see.
As for the link you provided, I don't see "have us call you" or "more" in the chat. Only automated help which is not helpful. "Contact agent" just put me in a perpetual loop with FAQ's or automated help. It's very frustrating to not talk to a person.
Thank you so much for responding though. I do greatly appreciate it!

Mentor2 years agoI’m glad you and the buyer worked it out.
Usually the link to have an agent call you is there - I think call volume is very heavy right now, so they disable it. Maybe try in the morning?
