Buyer has recended their membership
I sold an item for $400. I printed a shipping label and a packing slip but when I went tried to contact the buyer, as I always do, I couldn't because they were "not a registered user." With zero feedback and a membership that started and stopped the same day as the sale, I'm suspicious the buy might somehow block their payment or otherwise cheat me out of my money and the item after they've received it. I haven't sent it yet because of these worries.
What can I do to make sure the transaction will go through without a hitch?
Thanks for any help.

OP2 years agoThank you. Do you think cancelling is the best solution here? Is there a penalty for me if I cancel the sale (other than not making a sale?)

·2 years agoA user cannot quit eBay while transactions are pending. eBay is the one who kicked the buyer out, and it takes pretty clear evidence before it does so.
Did the buyer ACTUALLY pay according to your list of sold items? Or did you get an email/text from "eBay" saying it was paid (likely after you emailed or texted the buyer who "had some questions" or the like so s/he got your email address/phone #)?

Yes, he is listed as paid. The payout is listed as "Processing: To be completed Aug 26" (today). He has not contacted me. Seems like he got on ebay, became a member, bought an item then recended his membership or got kicked off. I do have his ebay email address (if I copy and paste) and phone number but have not tried to reach out other than my attempt to thank him for his purchase (which I could not do because he is not a member.)
I'm thinking maybe I should just cancel the transaction but wonder how I'd refund his money, since he's not a member.

Mentor2 years agoIf you file a Cancellation, the refund automatically goes back to the funding source, which most likely is a credit card.
