BUYER HAS INTENTIONALLY BROKEN AN ITEM AND WANTS A REFUND
Summary: drbobe57 shared their concern about a buyer requesting a refund for allegedly damaged skulls that were shipping issues. They suspect the skull the buyer claims is broken wasn't theirs and described being threatened with legal action. mr_lincoln and another participant advised them to instruct the buyer to file an official return and to report the issue to eBay, noting potential buyer intentions to misuse eBay's Money Back Guarantee. disneyshopper advised accepting the return, verifying the items, and using eBay's reporting channels if the items don't match. drbobe57 expressed gratitude but remains troubled by the situation's dishonesty.
I sent two skulls that were wrapped in bubble wrap and bubble wrap between the teeth to prevent any damage. The buyer said that they were damaged in shipping and wants a full refund; however, he is only showing one of the skulls. I have the photos, and the skull he is reporting as broken is not the same one I shipped. I do have photos to back up this claim. He has become very belligerent, threatening a lawsuit, saying this is a felony, etc.
I have tried to contact EBAY to provide the proof that what is being alleged is not true; however, they have emailed me that if I don't accept the return within 4 days, they will make me reimburse + I don't get my items back. And I can't figure out from the site how to send a return label.
I am just an old retired guy trying to get this solved. Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you!

Mentor2 weeks agoAccept the return. ebay will send a link to the buyer to print out the return shipping label. When you get the items back, examine them to make sure they are the items you sent out. Refund the buyer within 2 days. You can report the buyer if they returned something different.

Mentor2 weeks agoHi @drbobe57
-First, I don't see those items that were sold on this account. Do you have another account you sell on? If so we cannot see that here or cannot review the listing.
-Ignore the Buyers legal threats, they are trying to put you on the defensive.
-Message them and tell them to file an official return through eBay, nothing else and then wait until they do regardless of how many messages they send you
-Even though you are a new Seller some Seller protections may apply depending on what they return. Seller protections | eBay
Make sure you use the Report Buyer link on that sold item to alert eBay of an issue, pick reasons that get you to a typing field and explain as briefly as possible the threats you are getting in eBay Messaging.

OP2 weeks agoeBay took the items down because they were two human skulls we use in dental/ medical school, I didn't know they were not allowed.

That explains it. Even if the listing was removed for the policy violationt he Buyer is still protected by the Money Back Guarantee and a return may be forced on you. That is why I say to just tell the Buyer to file an official return claim through eBay. I suspect the Buyer is planning to use those for some kind of a Halloween thing and is trying to get them for either free or a reduced price.
