Buyer has created a complete mess of things
The PO sat on an item for over a week. The buyer demanded a refund and since it was not moving I refunded him AND told him when it came to mark it as REFUSED so it would come back to me. It arrived yesterday and instead of refusing it he opened it and used the item.
I told him he MIGHT be able to have eBay recharge his card (I have no idea how that would work). Instead he ordered another set of the item and tells me to NOT send it since he already has the stuff.
If I don't send it I don't get paid. He is now being pretty unreasonable.
If I print a label and put in a tracking number to show I shipped it it will never get scanned OR I put it on a SCAN Form and don't put these in the bag. In that case I actually get charged for the postage because of the SCAN Form use.
In addition to blocking this guy when I am all done here, any ideas on how to get this fixed at the lowest cost?

OP5 months agoIt became a complete mess and I finally got on with someone from "support". They gave me all sorts of answers and almost all their suggestions could/would have gotten me suspended.
Things like send the 'buyer' my email address so he could pay me with PayPal! And other things that all amounted to fraud!
I decided that after 20 years or so on here, I had wasted enough time and I just cancelled the "replacement order". I sent him a note saying I was NOT going to do a transaction off eBay and get my account closed and I was not going to do a phony order that I wouldn't actually ship. Then I blocked the buyer.
I suspect this is a new scam by 'buyers' that have been driven by the Amazon patterns. This is about the worst one I have encountered here ever.

Actually sending the buyer a PayPal invoice to repay you is ok with eBay since they do not have a repayment method. They consider the transaction closed after your refund. This would have been our suggestion if the refund was not sent through a not received claim, and if the buyer had not made the new purchase.
But since he already paid by buying another item, that method would not work, since it would look like you are taking the new purchase off of eBay.
I do agree that at some point you have to say it just isn’t worth the effort. But - I don’t think I would assume that the buyer is a scammer - I don’t think he would have made the new payment. He could have just ignored any request for payment since eBay can’t force him to repay the refund. (Unless as mentioned, if it was refunded through a not received claim.)

You could just mark the item shipped and wait for eBay to release the payment - that would probably be in 30 days.
Did you refund through a not received claim? If so, eBay will detect the delivery and reimburse you. I assume they bill the buyer, but we have not seen the details of this process laid out.
So by waiting, you could see if eBay handles it for you, then you could refund the buyer’s second purchase. If you refunded directly, then there is nothing to prompt eBay to look for the delivery. There is nothing way to ask them to refill the buyer.
