You sold the item with shipping, which means you are responsible for it until delivery. I would not allow the buyer to arrange the shipping - you do not want to give up control.
I would cancel the transaction as buyer requested, then relist it with local pickup. Then when the buyer’s freight company picks it up, you get the pickup code from the buyer before letting the table leave. It is then the responsibility of the buyer. I would let the buyer know that this is how it must be handled if he wants to handle the shipping.
