Buyer got refund then received item. How do I get paid?
I had a buyer who claimed they didn't receive an item & refunded them immediately. Today the buyer left positive feedback saying item was received and they are happy. I messaged them regarding payment but have gotten no response. How do I get paid? I contacted ebay support and got a circular runaround.

If you used an eBay label, eBay will refund you according to their new policy, although I don't know how long that takes. When was it delivered?
From the Seller Protections Help page:
If a buyer reports that an item hasn't arrived
If you ship an item within your stated handling time, and you upload tracking before the estimated delivery date from one of eBay's integrated shipping carriers that shows evidence of successful delivery, you won't be responsible for refunding the buyer.
Additionally, we’ll protect you if you use an eBay label and the item is delivered to the buyer after you’ve issued a refund. We'll automatically reimburse you for the item, remove defects, and exclude the case from service metrics.

OP9 months agoThe buyer messaged me for a refund over a week ago and I issued a refund. The item was sent in an envelope by USPS first class mail with no tracking (as stated in the listing). I've sold this identical item multiple times with no problem. The buyer left positive feedback today stating "Accurate description. Shipped the same day I bought it! Awesome, honest seller. Very happy buyer. Thank you!". So apparently, they got the item. I've messaged the buyer and gotten no response. Tried contacting ebay support and got nothing but AI slop.

Ok - that's different then - the policy above applies to tracked delivery - not sure eBay can help you with this. If they just left the feedback today, give them a few more days to respond. They will have to repay you outside of eBay - PayPal, Venmo, etc. - did you mention that?

OP9 months agoThanks for the response. Yes, I sent Paypal account info for payment + invoice. I do NOT like doing anything that skirts eBay (have turned down & blocked sellers in the past who've attempted to do transactions outside of eBay), and would prefer some mechanism to allow me to get this done within the platform but support doesn't seem interested in communicating with me.

I understand your payment concern - but in these cases there is no other way to get paid again - eBay knows that.
I also meant to give you a way to reach a live agent, if you need that, and ask what they can do to nudge the buyer to pay you back.
Open this Help page on Refunding buyers
At the bottom Click on "Contact us"
In the Help Chatbox that opens, to bypass the bots, type AGENT then press the Send arrow
Keep typing "AGENT" to any bot questions.
For the box asking "Yes"/"Something else" click on "Yes"
You should see the options to Chat live with an agent, or have them call you.
I tried it and had to enter AGENT 2 times, clicked "Yes", then got the live agent options.
Note: The Call Back option doesn't always work if your carrier blocks spam/telemarketing calls.
With the Chat option eBay will automatically email you a transcript.

OP9 months agoI'm pretty sure I'll never get paid on this.

OP9 months agoI was correct in this statement. If this woman would have pocketed an item in Walmart and walked out without paying, she would have been arrested for petty theft. eBay OTOH does not punish thievery.
