Buyer gave wrong address now wants refund
Should sellers call the buyer to check if their shipping address is correct before shipping?
A buyer had the wrong address and now my only choice seems to be to provide a full refund. eBay keeps sending me the same article over and over again to read but I cannot connect to having eBay step in to resolve.

There’s really no way to check whether an address is “correct“ … since the buyer could be sending the item to someone else as a gift.
Just make sure you enter the tracking number into the ‘item not received’ claim so that eBay can tell that the item was delivered to the address shown on the payment screen.
You should win the eBay claim. Just hope that the buyer doesn’t file a claim with their credit card company. Good luck!

Did you send the item to the shipping address Ebay provided with the payment notification?
Does tracking indicate the item was delivered to their Ebay shipping address?

OP2 years agoYes and yes!
Frankly, it had never occurred to me to verify the shipping address. I assumed that the buyer checked and is the most likely to know their correct address.
The buyer sent me an email saying that she's been trying to correct the address with eBay this morning and it keeps reverting to the old address where she has not lived for nearly 4 years.

if the buyer files a Refund Request, all you have to do is reply to the request with the tracking number and tracking information.

Since tracking shows item delivered, you are no longer responsible.

OP2 years agoThank you both (incl house of paws) very much. I'm feeling a bit firmer now.
I do so dislike the 'solve your own problems by reading this 2-4 minute article' that eBay has got going, the chat feature has the same article reading solution and humans are near impossible to reach.
