Buyer Gave Wrong Address: Can't issue partial refund
Hello,
A buyer gave me the wrong address and still wants the item. He opened a case and informed me of this a couple days ago. I received the package back today. I don't have the option to do a partial refund, only full refund and ebay still wants me to pay their fees on top of that (like it's my fault?). How do I proceed to have him pay for another label without hassle and ensure no ill will and extra charges?

Mentor1 year ago@100kgirl Normally you don't have to refund if the item is returned to you.
You can try contacting customer service but the path of least resistance would be to go ahead and issue the refund. You don't want eBay to force the refund or you get a defect and you don't get your sellers fees back. If you refund willingly then you DO get your sellers fees back.
I recommend social media as the agents are more experienced. Be sure to tell them that you are willing to refund if required so they don't force the refund but according to eBay Policy Items return to sender and are not covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

OP1 year agoI say that re: refund as it was an answer to this question previously. Another option is just to have the buyer pay for the next shipping label. But how does one do that through ebay's system? How do you send the buyer an invoice for that payment. That would be my preference.

Mentor1 year ago@100kgirl. Normally a buyer doesn't file a not received refund request. So you can issue a refund of the item price only .
Since you are going to refund in full just go to the sold listing and select sell similar to relist the item. Then the buyer can pay again and put in the correct address at checkout.
Or you can add the buyer to your blocked buyer list and not sell to them again.
