Buyer from Germany reports that her VAT is not showing up on her final bill, is this problematic?
Our customer from Germany is trying to pay for her transaction with 5 items in it, yet she reports that when she goes to pay (although she has not finished that process yet through PayPal ) that the VAT is not showing up. Is this a problem for either her or us? If it is, is there any way to get eBay to review it and fix the error so it does not cause our customer any difficulties when we send it or when it goes through customs?

·3 years agoYou are now using eBay International Standard Delivery (EIS) and not the Global Shipping Program. See here: eBay international standard delivery | eBay
"eBay international standard delivery is a Delivered Duties Unpaid (DDU) shipping service. This means buyers won’t pay duties and tax at checkout on eBay but may have to pay the carrier for duties and tax on delivery.
The Global Shipping Program (GSP) is a Delivery Duties Paid (DDP) shipping program. Buyers pay duties and tax during checkout on eBay, and will not pay additional fees upon delivery. Additionally, GSP manages export compliance."
Once you are migrated to EIS, there is no going back to GSP. Your international buyers will need to pay VAT and other duties on delivery.

OP3 years agoActually, our customer from France just paid the VAT (over 20%, not including Duties, it said) while shipping with eBay International Standard Delivery, so the idea that only eBay Global Priority is the only eBay shipping service to charge import taxes must not be true in all areas.
Does anyone know where we can get information on which countries have eBay collect the VAT and how they determine the the percentage or rate to charge? The order the day before to the same country was under 15% so it jumped up over 5% in one day, so does it fluctuate? How can we get answers (?) as our sellers fees are also calculated on the amount of the VAT that eBay charges the customer. Is there an office in eBay that one can contact to get the answers to these important questions? Does one need to direct a letter to someone in this platform or to the eBay platform in the foreign country where the item is being shipped? This is so confusing! Someone please help us understand this better. Does anyone out there have answers?

·3 years agoI have not shipped anything internationally in quite a while, so I can't answer. You can try asking on the Selling board, Selling - The eBay Community, or maybe better the Shipping board, Shipping - The eBay Community
You could also ask the eBay for Business team on Facebook:
You can reach them on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness/
You can also reach them on Twitter: https://twitter.com/askebay?lang=en

OP3 years agoIt appears that it was always 20% VAT in France but the upside is the item is delivered directly to the customer's door.
