Buyer Dispute Payment and Kept My Bike - Please Help!
I sold my bike on ebay to [Removed by Moderator]. She (the buyer) paid on March 10 and I shipped the bike on March 12; on that same day, March 12, she opened a return request stating that the bike "doesn't fit" even though the bike is still in transit. Per the tracking number, she received the bike on March 19.
She opened a dispute on ebay against me on March 29 and I had to provide support. I submitted all of the support on April 3; I provided images of the bike being bubble wrapped, the packed box, tracking number and I received the outcome on April 16 from ebay starting that I lost the case. I called ebay and asked why I lost the case, a representative said that the buyer opened a payment dispute with her bank and her bank credited her in full and there's nothing ebay can do; ebay then automatically debited my account even though I haven't received my bike back from her.
Now, the buyer has her money back and the bike that I sold to her.
I've been contacting the seller but she hasn't responded. I reported her to ebay, saying that she abused the return policy and I filed a police report. I've been an ebay member for 20 years, I buy and sold many items without issues, but now, I am extremely upset with ebay.
How can ebay just simply debit my bank account and didn't wait until the buyer returned my bike? How is this possible? What should I do? Please help.

Mentor5 months agoSince the buyer filed a dispute through their bank for the refund, eBay charges a bank dispute fee when a buyer disputes a charge directly with their credit card company or bank, rather than through eBay. This fee covers processing costs for the investigation, regardless of the outcome.

OP5 months agoThank you for your response. I understand your statement, but my question is still un-answered - how can ebay just simply debit my bank account and didn't wait until the buyer returned my bike and provide the tracking number? How is this possible? What should I do?
