Buyer disappeared. Item not shipped.
I bought and paid for an item that didn’t arrive. I waited 40 days and then reported it to eBay requesting seller to ship (didn’t request refund). I put a hold on payment on credit card so I wouldn’t have to pay for item and interest on credit card until item shipped. eBay cancelled my request for help, stating that my dispute with credit card caused them to close the case. But ebay did not process refund. I don’t understand the help process and not sure why the two actions are related. I need either a tracking number or a refund. It seems like eBay is tapping out and processing neither. What am I doing wrong?

eBay backs out of helping buyers after they’ve contacted another agency for help with the transaction. They are concerned about the possibility of a buyer receiving a refund from two different sources.
Since you’ve already contacted your credit card company … it’s probably best if you request a chargeback for this order and that you purchase the item from another seller. Otherwise, you may not have another opportunity to be refunded.

·3 years agoOnce you contacted your credit card, they take over and Ebay is no longer involved.
You'll have to work with your credit card for a refund.

OP3 years agoVery strange. My experience is that credit card companies only hold the payment for some period of time (so I don't have to start paying interest) until the package is shipped or the item is refunded. My experience is that if ebay or the seller does not process a refund that the credit card company will eventually charge me the amount and pay ebay. Have you experienced otherwise?
Ebay had posted that this transaction was not covered by their buyer protection - not sure what that means or why.
My luck with ebay has been poor lately - another purchase ended badly because the seller kept delaying until the dispute period was over and then ebay said it was too late for them to do anything. Is their process actually documented anyplace?
